Rose M. “Rosie” Taylor, 90, of Rushville, formerly of Metamora, passed away at 2:12 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born on October 14, 1929, in Metamora, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Schaub) Alig.  She married Donald Taylor in November 1970 and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1980.

Surviving are two sons Daniel Daxenbichler and wife Kathy of Rushville and Kendall Taylor and wife Kimmie of Rushville, three step children Vickie Lucchesi and husband Matt, of Chesterfield, Missouri, Cheryl Howard and husband Tom of Rushville, and Chris Taylor and wife Brittney of Beardstown, seventeen grandchildren Jeremy Metz, Heidi Anders and husband Matt, Alex Heffner-Taylor, Lance Heffner-Taylor, Sophia Taylor, Canyon Taylor, James Whitescarver, Tony Lucchesi and wife Katie, Jennifer Lucchesi, Danielle Lucchesi, Maris Lucchesi, Luke Stolp and wife Cara, Sarah Lung and husband Bobby, Jessica Stolp and companion Kyle Martin, Nick Howard, Emma White and Ellie White, ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Carina Stotler and husband Earl, and Joan Turner and husband Louis all of Metamora, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Rita Kapraun, Betty Kapraun, and Josephine Trotter and one brother Jacob Alig

Rosie worked at the Caterpillar Morton Parts Plant for 19 years, leaving in 1972.  She and her husband owned Taylor Machine in East Peoria and later in Rushville, for 11 years.  In 1980, she opened the Neat “N’ Nifty store in Rushville, and operated it for 9 years.  She also operated the Kandy Lady for 9 years.  She owned Dolly’s Closet, where she made clothes for American Girl dolls and sold them on the Spoon River Drive. 

She was a huge sports fan.  Some of her favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks and the Green Bay Packers. Rosie loved people and was known for always having a smile.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Rushville, the American Legion Auxiliary and was a former member of the Rushville Chamber of Commerce.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Christian Neck Cemetery, north of Rushville, with David Haney officiating.  Interment will follow.
