E. Lois Henninger

E. Lois Henninger, 89, of Rushville, passed away at 1:35 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born on November 23, 1929, in Schuyler County, Illinois, the daughter of Albert Cecil and Essie (Covey) Tomlinson.  She married James W. Henninger on October 11, 1952, in Rushville and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2000.

Surviving are one son Joe Henninger and wife Cindy of Rushville, one daughter Amy Milligan and husband Tim of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, three grandchildren Adam Henninger and wife Jenine, Jay Henninger and Claire Milligan, three step grandchildren Ben Milligan and wife Amy, Jennifer Rogers and husband Bob, and Garrett Milligan, two great granddaughters Anniston and Jocelyn Henninger, two step great grandchildren Athena and William Milligan, one sister Mary Vogler Fegly of Washington, Illinois, two brothers, Don Tomlinson of San Diego, California and  Tommie Tomlinson and wife Phyllis of Georgetown, Texas, and two sisters-in-law Lela Tomlinson of Quincy and Sherry Henninger of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Russell and Albert Tomlinson, one sister Alice Hiles.

Lois was the valedictorian of the Rushville High School Class of 1946.  She first worked as a court reporter in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  After Jim was discharged from the service, she returned to Rushville, where she worked at Bowers Men’s Wear and later Trimble’s Men’s Wear.  She would later work for Hannant-Ward Insurance. She then worked as a secretary at the Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mt. Sterling, retiring in 1992.  She then worked as a receptionist and assistant at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville.

She was an active member and volunteer of the First United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed traveling and taking drives in the country.  She loved to get together with friends for coffee.  Her group of girlfriends enjoyed playing dominos and cards.  She was fiercely devoted to her family

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 4, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend Randy McGeehon and David Haney officiating.  Interment will follow in the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville, near the family farm.  Visitation will be from 5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation or the First United Methodist Church
