Richard Paul “Dick” Diseron, 86, of Rushville, formerly of Camden, passed away at 7:50 AM, Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rushville.
He was born on December 8, 1932, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of Verne Anderson and Edna V. (Agans) Diseron. He married Ruth Ross on August 10, 1957, in Concord, Illinois, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Janice Bryant and husband Tim of Rushville, one grandson Vern (Andrea) Goldsmith, one brother Wayne Diseron and wife Helen of Rushville, one sister Betty Shelts and husband Charles of Rushville, two sisters-in-law Karen Diseron of Rushville, and Lela Tomlinson of Quincy, one brother-in-law Maurice Ross of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Rodney Diseron, one sister Vera Vancil and husband Ivan, three brothers Maurice and wife Alberta, Donald and Russell Diseron, three brothers-in-law Russel Tomlinson, Robert Ross and wife Frances, and Byron Ross and wife Rayetta, two sisters-in-law Mabel Heath and husband Joseph, and Sonja Ross
A 1950 graduate of Rushville High School. Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1953 to 1955, 16 months of which were served in Korea itself.
He was a lifelong farmer.
Dick was first a member of Shiloh Methodist Church and later Camden United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Guthrie Pierce Post #1239 VFW in Beardstown and the ILIAMO Model T Club. He enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends and strangers alike. He participated in the Great River Honor Flight. Dick loved children and he never passed up the opportunity to hold a baby.
Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Dan Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery, with military rites by the US Army Burial Detail and the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the Camden United Methodist Church or the Great River Honor Flight.
