Randy Toland, 69, of Rushville, passed away at 5:15 AM, Monday, May 15, 2017, at his home.

He was born on October 3, 1947, in Rushville, the son of Kenneth Raymond and Leona G. “Gerry” (Roudebush) Toland.  He married Teresa Greenlee on August 30, 1996, in Rushville and she survives.

Also surviving are three children Angie Toland and friend Derek of Paloma, Barbara Rowland and husband David of Quincy and Catherine Green and husband Darin of Lincoln, six grandchildren Cole Gilham and friend Charlotte of Aurora, Caleb Gilham of Rushville, Nick Rowland and friend Cami of Canton, Daniel Neese of New Canton, Ryder Neese of Paloma and Josh Green and friend Bronagh of Springfield, three great grandchildren Raveigha Rowland of Canton and Kieran and Emelia Green of Springfield, one sister Donna Bollinger of Browning, his In-Laws Jim Liesen of Quincy, Tony Busen of Mt. Sterling, Jim & Karen McCombs of Rushville, Randy and Darlene Royalty of Ursa, Joe and Connie Vermeire of Quincy, Sue Toland of Rushville and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny Lee Toland, brother-in-law Leo Bollinger and sisters-in-law Rose Ann Liesen and Linda Busen.

Randy was a 1965 graduate of Rushville High School.  After high school, he worked at his family’s service station Toland’s Skelly Service.  From 1966 to 1972 during the Vietnam Era, he served in the United States Navy.  After returning to Rushville, he worked for 3 years at Rushville Motors.  He then began farming, first for Brines Strong for 4 years and later 12 years for Wayne Wheelhouse.  He later drove a truck for Dave Clinard Truck Service for 12 years until retiring. 

He was a member of the Rushville Fire Department for 7 years, Schuyler American Legion Post #4 for over 47 years and the Schuyler Voiture 40et8 #1100, for 39 years.  He loved golfing and roadin’.  His grandchildren always held a special place in his heart and he loved attending their activities.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Jason Triplett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery, with military rites by the US Navy Honors Detail and the Schuyler American Legion Post # 4.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
