Huey A. Cain, 74, of Rushville, passed away at 10:20 AM, Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.
He was born on June 19, 1943, in Carmi, Illinois, the son of Andrew James “Andy” and Berniece (Huffstuttler) Cain. He married Linda Leach on December 9, 1973, in Springfield, Illinois.
Surviving are five children Andrea Lawrence and husband Mark of Nashville, Tennessee, Candy Guinn of Carmi, Tommie Cain and wife Angie, Leslie Crum and fiancée Ryan Kerr and Beverly Crenshaw and fiancée Tony Allen all of Rushville, 12 grandchildren Alexis and Paige Crum, Haven Lewis, Addie Peterman, Dylan Bigham, Garrett, Brianna and Bailey Crenshaw, Michael Gadrim, and Dalton, Danton and Racheal Guinn, three step grandchildren Kylie Richey, Hailey and Dustin Martin, four siblings Candace Cain of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Debbie Burnett and husband Frank of Carmi, Charles T. Cain and wife Pam of Melbourne, Florida, and Julie Cain and friend Darrell Miller of Longview, Texas, stepmother Ruth Cain of Gladewater, Texas, his former wife Linda Cain of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Pamela Sue Cain, and step father Fred Baldwin.
Huey graduated in 1962, from Carmi High School. He then attended Hobart Welding School in Troy, Ohio and Rend Lake Junior College in Ina, Illinois.
He worked as a welder for Trinity Steel in Beardstown, Capitol Machinery in Springfield, Inland Steel in McLeansboro and Lindsey’s Outdoor USA in Carmi. He then taught asbestos and lead removal at trade schools in St. Louis. His last job was as a truck driver for Hood Transportation in Rushville, Clinard Trucking in Mt. Sterling and Black Transportation in Beardstown.
He was a member of the Rushville Moose Lodge # 506 and the Illinois River ABATE. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, gardening, classic cars, drinking beer, iced tea, Oreo cookies, helping others, purchasing lottery tickets, dancing, and playing cards.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with his brother Charles T. Cain officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to his family.
